Welcome to your weekend, Minnesota. Here are three things to put on your radar.
Catch some hockey
Hot on the heels of a record-setting weekend of High School hockey comes some of the best college games in country. And right in your backyard! In Minneapolis at the Target Center North Dakota, St. Cloud, and Denver are among the teams facing off in the NCHC Championship. On the other side of the river catch the WCHA Final Five. While not as mighty as it once was it still features competitive schools like Minnesota State and Michigan Tech. And if that’s not enough for you on Saturday there’s an early Wild game before the WCHA championship game. Hockey all day e’ry day, it’s the Minnesota way.
Listen to KQ?
Yes, you read that right. Despite the fact that they don’t have any real competition (now that KTWIN changed to the terrible GO 96) Twin Cities classic rock station 92.5 KQRS has been doing really cool theme weekends recently. Last weekend they played entire album sides directly from vinyl every hour, the week before that it was a Beatles weekend, and there have been many more. This weekend they’re playing three in a row from every artist, which usually means they dig out deeper cuts that are fun to hear. Dig.
Support the 4onthefloor Kickstarter
Local blues/rock/country stompers the 4onthefloor are looking for funds to create their third album. There’s no other bands on the scene that combine a rootsy aesthetic with pure rock n’ roll energy as they do, so if you have a few extra bucks consider being their pal and supporting them.
